Biography

Ruth (Acy) Palmer immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Ruth Asie, daughter of Willmi Asie, was baptized 14 March 1621 at Kirk Ella, Yorkshire, England;[1][2][3] From the Parish Registers of Kirk Ella, Yorkshire-Baptisms:[4]

"1621 Baptiz. Ruth filia Willmi Asie tertij decimo quarto Marcij"

Ruth Acy arrived in New England with her parents and three siblings in December 1638 aboard the ship John of London, with a group led by Ezekiel Rogers. The family settled in Rowley, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Ruth married John Palmer on 17 September 1645 at Rowley.[5][3]

Ruth (Palmar), wife of John, was buried 13 October 1649 at Rowley, Essex, Massachusetts Bay,[6] a week after her son John was born. Her widower husband remarried and had four more children.[3]

The children of John and Ruth (Acy) Palmar were born in Rowley:[7]

  1. Hannah Palmar, b. 1: 7m: 1647 (01 Sep 1647)
  2. John Palmar, b. 7: 8m: 1649 (07 Oct 1649); d. in infancy.
