Biography

Alfred Earl Ackley, Sr. was born on 24 June 1884 in Springfield Monthly Meeting, Clinton, Ohio, United States. He was the son of Alfred Edwin Ackley (1860– ) and Carolyn Burt Shadrach (1867–1946).

He married Ethel May Coles on 20 January 1908, in King, Washington.[1] They were the parents of at least 3 sons.

  • Ralph Evans Ackley (1914–1975)[2][3][4]
  • Frank Wesley Ackley (1922–2005)[3][4]

In 1910, the Alfred drove a wagon for a department store and the couple lived in Seattle Ward 11, King, Washington. [5] By 1920, the family had moved to Alfred's father-in-law's farm in Kitsap County, Washington[2], but by 1930 had returned to Seattle where Alfred worked as a Cashier for the Street Railway.[3][4]

Alfred E Ackley registered for the WWII US Draft in 1942. He was still employed by the Seattle Transit System.[6]

Alfred Earl Ackley, Sr. died on May 2, 1955 in Seattle, King, aged 70.[7]
