Leonora (Abraham) Young is Notable.

Leonora was born in 1853, St Pancras London, daughter of Philip Abraham and Henrietta Boss.[1]

in 1874 she joined German Reed Entertainments, a company set up to provide family entertainment in London.[2]

1878 Frederick Edwin Lucy Barnes married Leonora Philippa Braham, 28 Mar 1878 Birkenhead, Cheshire, England.[3] Child:

  1. Frederick Stanton Lucy Barnes

Following this she moved to North America to develop her career but two years later her husband was killed in a shooting accident and she returned to England.[4]

She developed as an opera singer and actress with the D'Oyly Carte company and performed in principal soprano roles in the Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas.

She struggled with alcoholism as portrayed in the 1999 film Topsy-Turvy, and during the run of The Mikado she was threatened with dismissal for this reason.[5]

During the summer of 1886, she secretly married J. Duncan Young of Dunkild, Scotland the 1911 census has their marriage as 25 years.[6]

Together they had 2 children:

  1. May Muriel
  2. Donald Roy

The next 10 years were spent touring Australia, South America and South Africa before returning to England,[5]
