Lawrence Abbington was the son of Lawrence and Lydia (Brookes) Abbington. He was probably born after 1662, as he is not mentioned in the will of his grandfather, Henry Brookes in June 1662, though his sister Lidia (Lydia) Abbington is, as are other grandchildren and step-grandchildren of Brookes.[1] He would have been born before 1669, as his father passed away in 1670 and he is named as the only son in his father's will.[2][3][4]
Lawrence is also named in the will of his mother, Lydia (Brookes) Abbington Kimball in 1698, and is recorded as acting as executor.[5][6][7]
Lawrence also apparently married, as his mother's will mentions two grandsons - Joseph and Brooks Abbington, who can only be Lawrence's children, as he had no brothers. He married Lydia Blagdon. Daughter of John Blagdon and Sarah.Lydia's sister Elizabeth married William Booth.
It seems he also married Dorthey Blagdon sister to Lydia Blagdon before Feb. 23,1686,Westmoreland,Virginia.[8][9]
[25 May 1692] Wm. Booth was arrested to answer Lawrence Abbington in a plea. The plaintiff by Robt. Brent his attorney declareth that whereas John Blagdon late of this county, deceased, was seized as of fee of and in a tract of land scituate upon Appomattox Creek in this county and dieing intestate the land descended to Thomas Blagdon, son and heir of the said John, which Thomas dieing intestate and without issue the land descended to his two sisters Lyddia and Elizabeth as coheires of their brother. The plaintiff haveing intermarried with Lydia and the defendant with Elizabeth, the plaintiff hath often requested the defendant to make partitions the which he denies to doe. The plaintiff prays the Writt De partitione facienda directed to the Sheriff to make partition. Judgment is granted the plaintiff to have partition.[10]
William WROE had married Judith BROWN sometime before Original BROWN of Westmoreland Co VA signed his will on 05 Feb 1697/8 (proved 27 Apr 1698), naming wife, Jane (executor), daughters, Jane POPE, Judith ROE, Mary BROWN (not yet 16), son, William; and Lawrence ABBINGTON to whom he bequeathed one half his stock, books, etc… (Westmoreland Wills, Augusta Fothergill) Note: This was apparently Lawrence ABINGTON, Jr., son of Lawrence & Lydia BROOKS Abington, Sr., the latter d/o Henry & Joan (----) Brooks, as was Jane BROOKS, wife of Original BROWNE (and apparently earlier the widow of Richard HIGDON & possibly later m James CAMPBELL?)
