1. ↑ FindAGrave Biography: Knud arrived to Brisbane (Moreton Bay) on 16 October 1878 on board the Friedeburg. He migrated from Eistrup parish near Aarhus, which is way up in Denmark where he had found refuge, but he was a refugee, which you may keep in mind when other such people seek refuge in Australia, from then German occupied north Slesvig. It is and was a Danish speaking and oriented part of the Schleswig-Holstein. It was lost in a war with Prussia and Ostria in 1864 but returned to Denmark in 1920 and is now known as Sonderjylland (South Julland). He was born in his home in Hammelev parish on 23 Jul 1856 and christened in Hammlev Church on 3 Aug 1856, the son of Farm owner Niels Lauritzen Aaroe & wife Johanne Marie Nissen.
