Frieda (Aach) Kaufmann was a centenarian, living to age 100.
Frieda was born August 18, 1905 in Trier, Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. She was the daughter of Ludwig Aach and Helene (Bonem) Aach. [1]
Frieda married Isidor Kaufmann before 1937 (based on their being married when they came to the United States that year), probably in Germany.
Isidor, a tailor, and Frieda emigrated from Germany to escape the Holocaust. After their visas were issued September 22, 1937 in Stuttgart, Germany, they left December 1, 1937 from Cherbourg, France aboard the SS Aquitania and arrived December 7, 1937 in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States. Their nearest relative in Germany was Isidor's father R Kaufmann, who lived at Butzweiler 31 and they planned to go to Frieda's uncle M Aach at 6111 Pershing Avenue in Saint Louis, Saint Louis, Missouri. Isidor was 5' 7" tall with brown hair and brown eyes and Frieda was 5' 2" tall with black hair and brown eyes. They traveled with Frieda's brother Alfred Aach and sister-in-law Anny Aach.[2]
Isidor was known as Charles in the United States.
In 1940, Charles (age 35) and Frieda (age 34) were living at 5920 Etzee Street in Saint Louis, Missouri in the home of Frieda's father Ludwig (age 67), mother Helene (shown as Helena, age 66), siblings Alfred (age 37) and Jacob (age 30). Alfred's wife Anny (age 34) also lived there with the family. Jacob was a factory stock clerk, Alfred was a factory shipping clerk, and Charles was a tailor. [3]
Frieda still lived in Saint Louis, Missouri when she died December 15, 2005.[4]
