Biography

Jaques Herman, jewish according to nazi law, was born on the 14th of September, 1913 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He was the son of Ephraïm Aa and Helena Stokking[1]

In 1935, he married Cornelia Johanna Vermeulen (b. Leiden, Oct 30 1914), living with him in Amsterdam. They had three children: Hella, Frits and Lida[2]

He was arrested on the 30th of July, put into "Schutzhaft" (Protective custody), 1944 in Amsterdam, and deported first to Concentration Camp Auschwitz (Prisoner Number: 195417), and later on the 28th January 1945 to Concentration Camp Dachau, Germany, most likely detachment "Mühldorf" (Prisoner Number: 139686, Block: 8), were he died on the 16th of April, 1945, 13 days before the liberation of the camp on the 29th of April, 1945. (Noting that the Name Book of the camp notes "liberated at Mühldorf", but the inmates of Mühldorf were liberated on the 29th / 30th April 1945, and the detachment camp itself later on the 1st / 2nd May 1945.

In Concentration Camp Dachau, he was medically attended in the "Revier" (Camp Hospital), starting on the 13th of March, 1945, where he than later died from enteritis (stated in the death report, but nazi's are known to hide real death causes).
