Thos, son of Wm Becket & Sarah Becket, was baptised on 25 October 1808 in St James, Piccadilly, Westminster, Middlesex, England.[1][2] He was the son of William A'Beckett and Sarah Abbott.
On the 28th of August 1834 at Brighton in Sussex England he married Eliza Stuckey. They had 4 sons and 3 daughters.
In 1851 he applied for admission as Attorney Solicitor and Proctor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales for the District of Port Phillip.[3]
On the 17th of November 1855 at Collingwood in the the Colony of Victoria he married Laura Jane Stuckey, and they had no children.
Thomas (age 47), widower, son of William A Beckett & Sarah Abbott, married Laura Jane Stuckey on 17 November 1855.[4]
In 1890 A'Beckett was said to be residing at Walmer House, Collingwood, Melbourne, Australia.[5]
Thomas Turner a'Beckett was an English born Australia lawyer and politician in colonial Victoria. He served as a member of the Victorian Legislative Council from 1858-78.

Thomas a'Beckett retired from the Legislative Council in August 1878 and from all public duties in 1887, at the age of 79 years. He died in Brighton, Victoria, on 1 July 1892 at the age of 83 and is buried in the Melbourne General Cemetery, Melbourne City, Victoria. He survived all of his siblings, including his equally notable brother Sir William a'Beckett the one time Chief Justice of the Victorian Colony.

NOTICE is hereby given that I, THOMAS TURNER a'BECKETT, late of No. 7, Golden Square, in the City of Westminster, in the County of Middlesex, in England, but now of No. 174 Flinders-lane, in the City of Melbourne, in the District of Port Phillip and Colony of New South Wales, one of the Attornies of Her Majesty's Court of Queen's Bench at Westminster, and a Solicitor of the High Court of Chancery in England aforesaid intend to apply to His Honor the Resident Judge on the last day of this present Term to be admitted as Attorney Solicitor and Proctor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales for the District of Port Phillip, Dated this Twenty-fourth day of of March, 1851.
