Iredell County, North Carolina: Iredell County was incorporated on Nov 18, 1788 when it was formed from adjacent Rowan County. (Rowan County was formed in 1753 from Anson County. Anson County was formed from Bladen County in 1750, which was formed in 1734.) It is named for Judge James Iredell (1751-1799), Attorney General of North Carolina during the Revolutionary War and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1788.
