And a Charlemagne descendant on WikiTree, so loads of cousins.

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Relationship&action=calculate&gen=30&person1_name=Richthofen-1&person2_name={{PAGENAMEE}}

works on a profile, but not from here.  Or try

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Relationship&action=calculate&gen=30&person1_name=Richthofen-1

If using the Quick Links page

https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Richthofen-1/102

you may need to go to 30 generations.  Eg the Baron has dozens of cousinships with George Washington, but none within 15 generations.

Cedric Popkin.              - More on the  The Red Baron ABC TV 2018       has just come in -  NSW town claims local World War I hero Cedric Popkin brought down German air ace  - -  Manfred Baron von Richthofen

The identity of the soldier who killed the Red Baron, Germany's most celebrated World War I pilot, has long been the subject of controversy.

British, Canadian and Australian forces have all laid claim to the honour.

But as we commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the event, local historian Barry Butler and aviation expert Hawk Bear of Tyalgum on the north coast of NSW are convinced all evidence points to Sergeant Cedric Popkin.

Watch the Link above, and check Cedric's RSL Profile =

Hi, Do you know if Cedric Popkin's daughter married Jimmy McFarlane and they had 2 daughters.  Jimmy (James) was a country singer who played with Trevor Scott.  The reason I say this is because Jimmy would say with pride how his father- in- law was the one who shot down the Red Baron. Jim died a long time ago. Now I am thinking about it the names Gloria and Sandy come to my mind.  Jim not only was a country singer and guitarist but he had an interest in locating  bushranger history. out at the Oaks way..
thanks for ? Rionne - - found this Link = https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Family:Cedric_Popkin_and_Nellie_Unknown_(1) - which could be a start - - but if someone could list the Queensland state BMDs site it would be helpful - I do not know much about Queensland services, being in Perth - - cheers john.a
Nothing on the Queensland BMD site, but the births only go down to 1918 and the marriages only go down to 1943, which might be too early.

thanks RJ - found their marriage, and as you say births , none after 1918 - - at least in WA we get to 1932 =  about time the colonies got together and added another 5 - 10 years onto their free data bases  - - -       cheers- - ja

WA BIRTHS (1841-1932)
DEATHS (1841-1971)
MARRIAGES (1841-1936)

I thought Jimmy's father in law was from NSW. anyway I found A marriage for James Leonard McFarlane married Gloria Roberta Buie at Gosford NSW BDM  Marriage Registration No: 11567/1955.

Now I will attach part of the ABC story where the name Buie is mentioned..... http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-04-21/did-cedric-popkin-of-tyalgum-kill-the-red-baron/9682198

"Another Australian soldier, Gunner Robert Buie, also claimed that he shot down the Red Baron."

Oh mysteries of life.

As a total not related side note, I love Peanuts. And Snoopy fought the Red Baron. I asked my dad about this, I was just a kid, 7 or 8 years old. He gave me an old magazine he had read in the 50's as a child that had an amazing picture of the Baron and his plane as well as a detailed article on the Flying Circus, etc.  This sparked an interest in dogfights and this amazing opponent of the Allied forces.

My dad passed away on Veteran's Day. 2010.

I am sorry for your loss.  You can at least remember a shared cartoon and hopefully have a warm feeling.  When I think of cartoons of that era , I  think of 'Ginger Meggs.' The creator of that was once a fiance to my grandmother. Cheers.
