Greetings,

Did you notice a Ransom Austin and a Miles Austin associated with your line.

We have a brick wall ancestor.. Ransom who referred to a Thomas in York County

as " the old man " I think he passed before 1815 but not too long before.

Thanks in advance,

Charles Arthur Austin of Roanoke, Va .

There are a number of databases that might help with this:

http://www.afaoa.org/db_files/Miles_Austin_VA/Miles_Austin_VA.html

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=DESC&db=clinardja&id=I69876

The AFAOA database is completely vetted.

I am also an Austin from Virginia and I can't seem to find anyone before Ransom and Priscilla. It seems they just popped up on the 1780 census in York, VA. I'm guessing they are English?? Where did they come from.

We are also researching Ransome Austin (1766-1815) and I believe his Father was Thomas Austin (1740-1802) and his mother was Prucillia Allen Austin (1770-1854). They had two children Thomas (1790-1848) and Miles (1800-1875). I'm documenting this on our Austin Family Tree (Seth Austin is my son who is waiting on his Ancestry DNA results) but we believe this is correct. Let me know if you agree! Hello!  I am a descendant of Miles Austin (my 4th GGF).  I'd like to know more about this citation of Ransom referring to Thomas.

Thanks!

Charles Austin - are you a descendant of Ransom?  He was my 5th GGF.  Would like to touch base with you if you are a descendant!
