The New Netherlands Settlers Project has been doing wonders with the profiles under this project. A special thank you to Project Leader Carrie Quackenbush, and Project Coordinators Steven Mix and Ellen Smith.
In the past decade, much new research is being made available on this historically underappreciated era in America's development. This is in part because a lot of source information on the New Netherlands is in Dutch and was previous unavailable.
Therefore, our English speaking descendants and researchers focused on the American Colonial period and the Puritan Great Migration (see PGM Project for more great work).
I have a lot of ancestors from both areas and I see a lot of the work being done by both projects. These are wonders to behold on WikiTree. It is incredible the amount of work and research they both spend on bringing us useful and accurate profiles. And while Kudos must be given to the PGM Project, I wanted to call attention to the recent work being done by the New Netherlands Settler's Project.
The work they are doing is especially amazing given the nature of the sources available to them. It is difficult enough to locate and transcribe english documents created a long time ago. But add in a language that uses Dutch Patronymics and you find yourself needing very specialized individuals.
The NNS Project of late has pulled together an awesome team and they are spreading awesomeness thought WikiTree.
