Hello WikiTreers!

In the WikiTree Challenge, we research together to make discoveries for a special genealogy guest star. We research their family out to seven degrees in all directions.

Challenge #4 is a going to be fun! We're partnering with our good buddy, Lianne Kruger. She is a professional genealogist and speaker specializing in Canada, homesteading for U.S. and Canada, video recording of family history, and using technology such as Google Maps, Google Drive and Evernote for genealogy.

Countries that we know will be involved so far: Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, United States (Vermont, Massachusetts, New York).

Our week begins Thursday, April 18, at noon EDT (4pm UTC) and ends April 25, at noon EDT. You don't need any particular skills to participate, so everyone is welcome to join us!

If you would like to help, all you need to do is post an answer below letting us know you are interested. You'll receive an email shortly before the challenge week starts with details on how to get involved.

Connection #1: Alexander Rheault

by Eowyn Walker G2G Astronaut (2.5m points)
I've connected him to another point in the tree through his mother, Odile. His grandfather Leandre Mongrain (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mongrain-57) was already in the tree.
I've added Alexander's grandfather Pierre Rheault (1795) and connected him to his father - also named Pierre Rheault  (1766) - who was already on the tree with at least 4 or 5 generations of known ancestors.
Good stuff!

I'm planning to work on adding/connecting profiles for relatives of Mary Anna's maternal grandfather, Pierre Joseph Poirier.

Connection #5: Joseph Richard Dowd

by Eowyn Walker G2G Astronaut (2.5m points)
Added Bigelow-3223 who links her husband Elijah (an uncle or something) to her existing father on the tree.

I am going to focus on this line. Since I'm related to Lianne on her maternal & paternal side. Focusing on Eliza Ann's father.

Good job, Celia!!

Kat, did your connection to her get closer after this week?
I did not. I got overwhelmed with real-life stuff.

Bounty #1: Alfred Harris - mother (England)

by Eowyn Walker G2G Astronaut (2.5m points)

Claim! Alfred's mother was Mary Ann Cottey. I created a profile for her at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cottey-40. I expect that I can find more information than currently appears on the profile.

Great job, Ellen!

Bounty #2: Adele Leblanc - parent (probably Canada)

by Eowyn Walker G2G Astronaut (2.5m points)
Adele's last name was Dellaire/Dallaire, and she was also known as Adele Leblanc. I've added her father Olivier Dallaire (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Dallaire-754), and am working on verifying the spelling of her mother's surname.
Wonderful work, Erin!

Bounty #4: Duncan William Murray - parent (Scotland)

by Eowyn Walker G2G Astronaut (2.5m points)

Based on Duncan's son Alexander Earle Murray's baptism record, I think Duncan may be the same person as William, son of Alexander Murray and Isabel Gibbons of Stanhope and Barnston, Quebec.

Points in favour of this theory (see profiles for sources):

1. Alexander Earle Murray's parents lived in Barnston in 1876. One of the sponsors at his baptism was "A. Murray." The two A. Murrays in Barnston in the 1871 census were Alexander Murray, stonecutter and his son, Alexander.

2. In the 1871 census, Alexander Murray's son William was a stonecutter. In the 1881 census Duncan (going by the name William D.) was a stonecutter.

3. Alexander and Isabel's daughter Ina's 1924 obituary says she has 4 brothers and 5 sisters surviving her. Based on the 1871 census, those brothers would have been George, William, Alexander, and Fenwick. Duncan William died in 1926. Fenwick's 1933 obituary only mentions one brother, Alexander.

But, I haven't been able to find a firm record, either a marriage record for Duncan and Mary that lists their parents, or something with the name Duncan William/William Duncan Murray and his parents (or even a mention in the context of his siblings). Anyone want to help look for something?

I've decided to connect Duncan as Alexander and Isabel's son, based on a record that places Duncan and another child of Alexander and Isabel's in Cornwall, Ontario in 1880 (where Duncan was living in 1881). Alexander and Isabel's son Alexander (also a stonecutter) had a daughter, Mary Frances. The informant was D.W. Murray, stonecutter of Cornwall, and the person who delivered Mary Frances was "Mrs. A. Murray, mother of informant."

This in combination with a baptismal record for William Murray with a birthdate that is mostly consistent with Duncan William's (December 1849 vs December 1848) makes me fairly confident that it's the same family.
Great work, Erin!

Bounty #6: David Rheault - mother (Canada)

by Eowyn Walker G2G Astronaut (2.5m points)

David appeared in the 1901 census with father Narcisse and mother listed as Josette, born in 1866,, but in the 1911 census the name of the mother was Georgina born in 1862. It wasn't clear if Josette and Georgina were the same person or two successive wives of Narcisse. But I've found the marriage record of Narcisse Rheault and Georgina Cadarette in 1885, so it appears now that Josette was in fact Georgina with a wrong spelling in the 1901 census and so the name of David mother is Georgina Cadarette, daughter of Henri Cadarette and Emilie Plouffe.

Nice work, Guillaume!
