Hello Ev1! My name is Jakki and I am looking for anyone who can help me with 2 of my families. my 1st family is my Morgan family. My 2nd Great Grandmother is Susan Ann Morgan, born 1850 in Camp Creek, Greene County, TN. Her parents were Allen Morgan and Anna B. Johnson Morgan. She also had a twin, Thomas Morgan. I have info on this family but it seems that this family has Susan married to a Thomas Cogdill. after researching, I found that Thomas was married to a Susan Morgan but not Allen and Anna's Susan!! I have info to show that.

My 2nd family will be my Young family (much harder) My 2nd Great Grandfather was Benjamin Young, born 1830 in Yancey County, NC. I have no idea who his parents are but with a lot of research (and blood and sweat!!!) I am trying to see if George Young, son of Strawbridge Young and Martha Wilson Young, is his father, who he had with a slave.

If there is a genealogist/researcher/curious Wikitreer, that would be knowledgeable (not spelled right), about Northeast Tennessee (Camp Creek, Erwin, Elizabethton) areas in the 1800's, please reach out me!!! I look forward to hearing form someone!!  Thanks  Jakki

Until an experienced WT Southern Researcher replies, a General Research Tactic would be to Google "North Carolina, Genealogy, Yancy County" and see what infor or help you can find there. Then add full name & date ("Benjamin Young, born 1830") and see what types of hits you get.  Also, conduct similar search on FamSrch targeting Yancy County. Always good to survey to see if you can narrow your parameters.

Now, I just tried that prompt. Had to refresh it once after narrowing the general result. It gave me:

WlikiTree Resource page for Yanyc County, NC

If you hadn't seen this, dive deep into what it offers.

Best!

You may also want to reach out to the Yancy History Association. They may be able to help research your family from the area for you.

I don't know how to tell you to research former slaves.  I did find the George Young you mentioned in the 1840 census, yancy Co, NC. He was a slave owner, Two males were within the age range for Jordon Young and Benjamin Young.   You need a George Young DNA match to be sure.  Sorry we can't help, good luck in your search.

Slaves - Males - Under 10 2
