Cemeteries are among the most valuable of historic resources. They can serve as reminders of various settlement patterns, or they can reveal information about historic events, religions, lifestyles, and most importantly, our genealogy. Unfortunately, these cemeteries do not necessarily remain permanent reminders of our ancestors and past since they are subject to long-term deterioration, neglect, development activities and construction projects, and even vandalism and theft.

Hi Jessica, we're happy that you would like to join us.  Please click on the dark green "Answer this post" button and post your answer there.  Then I can get back to you with more information.  Thank you!

Here is today’s article of an ongoing series I have done on cemeteries in The Apopka Voice, Florida. It has an international readership but is based in Orange County abutting Lake and Seminole counties in Central Florida.

https://theapopkavoice.com/stories/apopka-watches-over-its-fallen-heroes-with-the-eyes-of-a-hawk,73729

Each time I write I include the Wikitree links about the souls, sometimes the editor includes the links and sometimes he doesn’t. If I embed them, he usually does.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Hello, I'm based in the north of the Vienne department in France. Post code 86330. I'm primarily a photographer, although I've been doing genealogical research (mostly my own family tree) since 1990.

Can cover a lot of the area south of the River Loire, from Nantes to Tours and south to Limoges and La Rochelle - given time. I may also travel to other parts of Europe for sailing events, and can shoot locally there as well.

Best regards,
Ant

I would like to join the sourcing challenge.  I have several cemeteries in my family where ancestors are buried that are not in Wikitree and unfortunately I do not know how to create a cemetery listing.

Anyone living in La Grange County, Indiana know of a cemetery called Pixley Cemetery? Or perhaps it was renamed and that was a previous name or something similar.  This is not in Find a Grave.

Why are you re-inventing the wheel. We have loaded more than 13,000 photos to findagrave which is available to all. There is no point to duplicate the millions of photos on that site.

I have started a small project on the war memorial in my church (it only has 17 names). Could this be added to the Cemeterist Project?

The project page is at St Mark's Darlington War Memorial and the location of the memorial is Plus Code GFX3+C8 Darlington which converts to Lat/Long 54.548562,-1.546687.

Some of the people named on the memorial are buried in the local cemetery (Darlington North Cemetery), so I would potentially be interested in working on that cemetery.

I'm very interested in helping in the southern part of the panhandle of Texas. If I may, I'd love to keep the counties private. I'm happy to drive out and take photos, cite sources, or help people find someone somewhere in this area.

I create cemeteries whenever I find my family and friends are not accounted for areas that should be.  I also add known burials in old cemeteries that were never recorded.

I catch up or correct FindAGrave at the same time.

I wish that we could get the actual names used on the deed, cemetery, FindAGrave, Wikitree, categories synced.

I have created and filled several cemeteries over the years on FG and WT, even that the County didn’t know existed.

I'm interested in helping! I am the historian at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Va., and our cemetery is part of a complex of local cemeteries that were established around 1809 or later. I'm not the best photographer but I can help with indexing.

I am interested in contributing. I have added a few cemetery categories so far. Also have been connecting profiles to them. I'm in western Maine and primarily interested in southern Oxford county and possibly northern York county.
