I am looking for the father of my great, great grandfather Alexander Buchanan (1791- 1875 ) who came to Canada in 1827

Am I correct in assuming he came from Scotland?   If so any idea where in Scotland.

If you go to www.familysearch.org and put in his name and age and then

click residence you will see a number of Alexander's. There are some very well documented that might be related. It would be easier if you knew his wife's name. If you do then put down spouse.
