Profile page states “A special account to place eligible profiles”; but eligibility is not explained. Please update profile page to clarify “eligibility”.

I am a Netherlands Project Coordinator.

As per the other answers, we are trying to minimise the number of accounts managed by the project, as currently there are too many, currently 23364 profiles.

The only profiles that must be managed by the Netherlands Project are

1. Those that need project profile protection (PPP) status.  Again, currently the requirements listed for such a status has been too broad, something I'm working on.

2. Profile of living people where there isn't a profile manager anymore.  In fact you can leave a advance directive on your profile that any Dutch profiles go to the Netherlands project, if ever you go inactive for an extended period.

If it doesn't meet those criteria, it is better just to add the Netherlands Sticker, rather than make it a Project Managed profile.

That is the page for the Project Account only.  All Projects that have accounts have a page like that.

Netherlands Project Page is found with this link

The G2G to join Netherlands Project is found with this link.

Linda, thanks for explanation, but you did NOT answer my question. Some eligible profiles are managed by this "special" account; but eligibility is not explained.
Projects can add the Project Account as a PM to profiles that they feel are Notable to the Project, have discrepancies with relatives, spelling variations, etc.

For a while, that project was attaching the Project Account to all profiles in Netherlands, but that practice was stopped a while ago since there were too many profiles in the Watchlist. They had been working on removing the Project Account from the majority of the profiles after reviewing each one, but there are a lot to work through.  Some members of that project are no longer actively working on that, so the progress at doing that may have slowed.

As I wrote on the duplicate of this question:

I had to dig to find it.  Criteria for any given project's project-protection is usually on the project web page:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Netherlands

This page is first in Dutch; the English version follows. Right above the English-language header "Welcome to the Netherlands Project" is a green box that includes the following:

"As of Saturday September, 4th 2021 the Dutch Roots Project asks of all it's members to stop adding the project as manager of profiles. This because we are waiting for the results of the discussion about new criteria for this before we want to add more.

It is recommended to place the Netherlands Project Sticker in it {{Netherlands Sticker}}.

This decision is temporary and will be adjusted when the new criteria for Project Managed Profiles and Project Protected Profiles are known.

Check the Project Managed Profiles and Project Protected Profiles for more information"

It doesn't look like there has been any change since 2021. I am aware that the project lost most of its active volunteers about that time. So maybe it just hasn't been able to build back up. But in either case, it looks like, for the time being, project management of profiles is being discouraged.

As Linda mentioned, this is a Project Account for the Netherlands Project. Project Accounts are used to manage profiles (what we call Project-Managed Profiles).

"Eligibility" is probably the wrong word here. Technically, any ancestor profile is 'eligible' for Project Management. An easier question to help understand this would be, "why should this person be managed by the entire project?"

Project Management is a way to expand collaboration between 1 or 2 people to an entire project for highly controversial profiles of historically-significant people and widely-shared ancestors. It is up to each Project to decide if a specific profile fits the need of being managed by the entire project.

If we are talking about Grandpa Joe who was born in the Netherlands circa 1900's - project management is probably not appropriate.

But if we are talking about a notable figure, such as William I of Netherlands, the Project Management would be prudent (along with Project Protection).

Allemaal onnodig belerend. Je had ook gewoon kunnnen zeggen "het spijt me, ik had moeten zeggen Willem I en opa Joop."

Sjaak, even though this thread has dove off topic, I will respond one last time.

Re: Grandpa Joop - I am not Dutch, and did not want to run afoul any cultural misrepresentations by searching for and using a name I am not familiar with. If you take offense to "Joe", then my apologies for that.

RE: Willem / William - Again, I am not Dutch. I can only present the name as I know it. Very similar to how people will spell my own name differently (Stephen instead of Steven based on their language/location). I take no offense to it.

So what you call a lack of feeling is actually my attempt at respecting the culture and language differences by explaining in the only way I know how. Again, if you take offense to that, I apologize.

I understand that mistakes are not intentional and do not try to place blame on others.
