Im looking for James Forrest Charles. I come from a line of direct descendants with the same name and would like to be able to trace my family name back through the previous 5 generations. I have my father as James Forrest Charles, the 5th, and my grandfather James Forrest Charles the 4th. Its the others I'm interested in.

I was the first born in Canada, and my family comes from Scotland, and the UK (My grandfather brought his family over when my Dad was in high school (or just finished).

Our namesake goes back 8 generations, however it skipped a generation early on along the way.

My grandfather married Margaret Nelson in Scotland, my father married Julia Geldart in Canada (late 1970's to early 1980's).

Any help would be amazing! Thank you in advance

Is Forrest a middle name or part of the surname?

Can you narrow it down a little?  A time or place?

Can we assume father born c1950, grandfather c1920?

Records from that time period aren't online due to privacy issues, so do we look for g-gf c1890?
