Featured Surnames from October 2010
Last month was another big one for WikiTree. We raced past 500,000 profiles in the database, and we're flirting with 600,000.
The top surname won by a mile. With 2,142 new additions, it almost beats the next three combined. These McCord additions come from Mary Stuart who imported a GEDCOM of record-breaking proportions. Her file represents over seven years of active research. Mary explained, "Some of my research has been online, some driving to other states, and some has been contributed to me (have tried to acknowledge all those contributors)." We're thrilled that Mary contributed her work to our worldwide wiki family tree.
Another WikiTreer deserves some special attention: Krissi Hall. Krissi hasn't focused on one surname, so she doesn't feature prominently in the top 10 here. And she hasn't imported a GEDCOM. Instead, she has made her contributions to WikiTree one at a time. Twelve thousand times. Seriously. As of this writing, Krissi has made a total of 12,727 contributions and has a total of 5,814 individuals on her Watchlist.
WikiTree contribution counts combine GEDCOM and manual contributions, so the counts on the WikiTree Club 1,000 page obscure this, but I think that in terms of manual contributions Krissi is now only rivaled by Joanna Tolson, Doug Coldwell, and Dee D'Errico.
