Biography

John Worsham, Jr. was born circa 1679, in Henrico County, Virginia, the son of John Worsham and Phebe Frances (Robertson) Worsham. ^[1]

John owned land on Swift Creek. He was a witness in many deed transactions & wills in Henrico Co. He was an appraiser of many estates. He was vestryman & church warden of Curles Church.

Before 1711, in Henrico county, John married Mary Wynne. John left a will dated December 8, 1751 and proved October 5, 1753 in Chesterfield county, Virginia. ^[2]

• John Worsham, III, born 1711, married Agnes Branch, daughter of Thomas Branch and Elizabeth Archer, on October 11, 1726
• Thomas Worsham, born circa 1713, in Henrico county, Virginia, died before January 12, 1802, in Chesterfield county, Virginia, married 1) Rebecca Eppes and 2) Martha Mosely
• Phebe Worsham, born circa 1717, in Henrico county, Virginia, died before June 5, 1767, in Chesterfield county, Virginia, married Moses James, about 1737

In the name of god amen I John Worsham do ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following,

First I give and bequeath my soul to almighty God who gave it hoping through the merits of our Blessed Savior and redeemer Jesus Christ to receive remission of my sins and my body to be buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named.

As for my worldly goods which it hath pleased God to bestow on me I give in manner and form following.

Item I give to my son Joshua Worsham my negro man Will

Item I give to my daughter Phebe James, my negro woman Betty, and my girl Ginney and items

Item I give to my son Thomas Worsham, all my lands on the third branch of Swift Creek, my negro man young Sims, and at death my negro men old Sims and Lankston and items.

Item I give to my grandson John Worsham, son of John Worsham dec'd all my lands on Flintons Swamp; likewise my two lots of land where my father's house stand in the town of Bermuda Hundred

All the rest divided between my three children Joshua, Phebe and Thomas
