Israel was born 1895 in Texas, and he was the 25th child of 49 kids.
as said by Israel at many family events, his father Sanders Allen Williams was a tall long haired man who never smiled. But always had some coins to give. From a man who had 49 kids, living off of white people, and being treated any kind of way, I can see why he never smiled. But it would’ve been nice to see my father smile for a change.
I was 17, and yes I was 17 when my ol’ father died. He was 81 years old living a stressful life especially after slavery. On my mother side, My grandmother, Bertha Lee Allen told me at the age of 11 before she died at 110 she said to me to never in my life be like my father. I didn’t understand what she meant until I turned 14.
My mother name was Lizzie Bell Armstrong. A woman who had no fear in dying, and a woman who live faithfully after being tortured by slave owners.
My mother was a breeder too. But luckily when slavery was over she didn’t get to have babies with multiple men.
My father told me on August 3, 1916 I was 16. My father told me in my face how that he wish he could’ve met his parents. My grandmother Sequoyah and Grandfather Esco lived a strange lifestyle, only eating deer meat and eating Lamb to survive in the woods of Kentucky.
My father spoke sometimes when he wanted you to know something. But my father never really mentioned anything about his set of older children. He only discussed these set of kids: Macon, Mary Lizzie, Eliza, 2 Maggie’s, Lucille, Sam, Rosie & Cornelius.
My family been through a lot especially my father losing his siblings and parents.
My sister Lucille asked our father if he knew his grandparents. He answered to her saying he didn’t know them but a close cousin of his named Sarah Daniels had told her that father didn’t want to know his family after so many years.
Sarah Daniels was a full-blooded Choctaw Indian who had long hair, and always stayed around my father even when he died.
I remember at 17 when my father passed away the undertaker ringed a Loud bell outside our home announcing his passing. And he was so tall they had to make a special box for him.
And I remember when we had the funeral for him on April 25, 1912 he had his favorite all black suit on with his long silky hair braided and wrapped around his shoulder. He left behind some coins and some shoes ( which we still have) and he was just looking like himself .
But also after having 49 children I would’ve needed that rest too.
My mother died a year after he did and died on the same day my father did. Which was April 18, 1913.
My mother was immediately buried under ground (near downtown Houston).
My sister Emeline was the one I knew growing up. She would often babysit me or my sister Jane.
My life was filled with love after marrying Catherine Gill. My children took after her success and taught school as well.
But then I spent the rest of my life teaching. But who knew that I became a known teacher especially a retired one.
I was 75 or 76 when I heard that my sister great-grandchildren became singers. The Jackson 5? I said to myself when In the h*ll did my sister marry a Jackson. I never knew the man or knew her kid except William which is her oldest.
My son life was just in a wow moment to be the great-uncle of a successful music group of young black children.
At that time when I was coming up a black kid would get his head knocked off if he wanted sing.
My nephew Simuel was my twin, including his brother/my nephew Scipio.
I got the chance 1976 to see my great-nephew’s perform especially Jumpin Michael as I called him, because he would always jump or do something crazy with his legs.
After that people start to find out he was my great-nephew.
I started to be called “The Jackson 5 long lost Uncle”. But would have been nice to have meet them especially my nephew Simuel.
The end.
(Simuel and Israel died a year apart, Israel died, October 2, 1992, and Simuel died October 31, 1993).
