Some genealogies incorrectly designate this woman as Jane Alley.[1] Alley, however, was not her surname but rather her first name.[2]

27 Apr 1795 William Byrd and Alley his wife to Samuel Byrd, all of Grayson Co. One tract of 100 acres, both sides East fork of the Nob [Knob) Fork, bounded by head of a branch in Stephen Bourn's line, William Byrd's Spring branch, a new marked conditional line, Now in possession of Samuel Byrd. [3]
