Research Notes

The date of birth 11 Apr 1744 in St Agnes, Cornwall is unsourced, and unusually specific for the time period. It would seem more likely to be a date of baptism, but there is no baptism for Humphry Tonkin in 1744 in the parish register for St Agnes, nor for any surrounding parishes. Also, his baptism does not appear in St Gluvias, as Jacob Tonkin's daughter Prudence was baptised there in 1750.

Both Humphry Tonkin and Ann Woolcock were residing in St Agnes when they were married in 1767. Witnesses to their marriage were Ephraim Woolcock and Phil Roberts.

FamilySearch Person: LVFD-PYV
Humphry Tonkin's profile on FamilySearch has attached a cropped image from what is quoted to be The Tinners Muster Roll for Redruth of 1798.
It has Humphry Tonkin age 54 as well as Jno Tonkin age 23 and Wm Tonkin 18.

His burial in 1812 in Redruth has no age at time of death recorded. No Will found in Original wills, administrations and inventories for the Consistorial Court of the Archdeaconry of Cornwall, 1579-1859 digitised on FamilySearch.

With no sourced birth or baptism, there is no evidence to confirm that Humphry is the son of Jacob Tonkin. The death of Jacob Tonkin is unknown with no Will located either.
