Lois Tarpley Honeycutt Corrie was born in Lawrence County March 31, 1885 to John S. and Helen Harriet Heron Tarpley. She married first to M H Honeycutt October 2, 1904 in Lonoke County, Arkansas and the couple had two children, Daisy and Erna. They were divorced sometime before 1920.
Lois and the children are next found living with her brother Harley Tarpley in Stoddard County, Missouri in 1920; Her last name is George and she told the census taker she was a widow. No marriage record has been found for this marriage.
On May 8 1924 Lois Tapley George married James Elsberry Corrie in Lawrence County, Illinois. She was forty years old. By 1930 She and Elsberry lived in Lawrenceville, where he was a blacksmith. Ten years later, the couple were living in Lukin and Elsberry continued to practice blacksmithing. Lucy Ann Tarpley, Lois’ aunt lived with the couple, and Lois cared for her until her death in 1948. Elsberry died October 21, 1950.
Lois died January 26, 1972 in the Monticello Nursing Home in Mount Carmel, Wabash County, Illinois. She was 86 years of age. Burial was at Moffett cemetery.
