Some entered the home of the aged Douwe Tallman, who was bayonetted while sitting on a trunk that the raiders presumably supposed to contain valuables. He died the next day, and he is buried in Sautje Tave's Begraven Ground, Demarest, NJ, where his memorial stone still stands. [1]
