Edward Maurice Swain was born in 1833 at Newtownbarry, County Wexford, Ireland. He was the eldest son of John Swain and Sarah Morris. He was baptized at Saint Mary's Newtownbarry on 13 December 1833.
With his parents, Edward emigrated from Ireland to Upper Canada about 1834.
Edward married Martha Emily Robinson at Owen Sound, Grey, Ontario on 9 March 1868.[1] They had about five children.
Edward passed away in Sarnia, Lambton, Ontario on 7 November 1904.[2] He was buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia.[3]
