Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Naval Philadelphia Hospital to Billy Straw and Lois Somerville. My parents had to take a bus from Atlantic City, New Jersey for the birth, as it was the closest hospital and they did not have a car in the 1950's. Luckily, I was the first child and it was not a quick labor baby. At this time, my mom was a housewife and my dad was enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
I am the grandaughter of immigrants. My grandmother, Mary McDonald, was from Lurganboy, Manorhamilton, County, Leitrim, Ireland, and my grandfather, Elmer John Straw, was born in Scotland but his family was from Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England.
I have had the opportunity to travel and get an education at various catholic schools across the United States. Graduated from Towson Senior High School, Towson, Maryland, majoring in business and then on to Stevenson University.
My interest in family history began from the wild story telling days with my dad. He made it very interesting and I was determined to find family records on my own to share with future generations. As you explore my branches of my tree, you will see that my paternal roots on my dad's side (Irish/English/Scottish) are grounded in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts., England and Manorhamilton, County Leitrim, Ireland (Patrick McDonald). My maternal roots on my mom's side cover the Maryland and Pennsylvania areas (Somerville).
I am interested in communicating with cousins and/o anyone else that has an interest in genealogy. Everyone deserves a bio that gives some justice to the people we are writing about as real people. Good luck in your search for your roots.
To aid WikiTree in the administration of my account should I be incapacitated, or in the event of my death, I hereby give permission for all private profiles I'm managing to be transferred to my sons, Brian Addicks and Nick Addicks, whether or not they are currently on the Trusted Lists:

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY IMPORTANT to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

I appreciate your message, and I am happy to help whenever you need. I suggest you look at the Profile Improvement Project Voyage. I took it a few years ago and learned a lot. You choose two ancestors and learn how to create well-written and sourced profiles. My 3x GG: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Keener-903, and my 2x GG: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Moore-26700 are examples.
I am happy to help, also.
Enjoy your weekend ~ Sheryl
