Edward Snow was born in 1745 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Province, New England. Edward was the second son of Sylvanus Snow and Hannah Cole to bear the name Edward; his older brother had passed away shortly before his birth.
Edward Snow grew up to be a mariner (merchant marine sailor), eventually gaining his own vessel and the rank of sea captain. On February 18, 1768, at 22 years old, Edward Snow married Elizabeth ("Betty") Myrick (aka Merrick), b: 1748 near Eastham, Massachusetts Bay, New England. As can be seen from the above list, Edward and Betty (Myrick) Snow moved their family from Cape Cod to Penobscot County, Maine District, part of the Massachusetts Bay Province at the time, on the eve of the American Revolution.

Captain Edward Snow lived the rest of his life sailing from Orrington, Penobscot County, Maine. He passed away there in October 1791 at just 46 years old, leaving a large family behind. His burial place is not known and he may have died at sea. [2] His wife, Betty (Myrick) Snow, survived his passing and died in Hampden, Penobscot County, Maine, USA, on July 25, 1822. [3]
