Biography
- Charolette Mears, 64, of 1250 West Carl Sandburg Drive, Galesburg, formerly of East Galesburg and Abingdon, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.
She was born on September 20, 1945 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to Claude and Demma Gifford Smith. She married Harry Mears on December 19, 1964 in Galesburg. He passed away on August 22, 2003.
She is also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gerald and Carroll Smith.
She is survived by one son, Robert Mears of Macomb; two step-daughters, Kathy Jones of Galesburg and Sylvia Phillips of East Galesburg; one step-son, Darrell Mears of Macomb; two grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchiildren; four brothers, William (Suzanne) Smith of Galesburg, Harold (Alice) Smith of Abingdon, Delbert Smith of Abingdon and Marty (Rita) Smith of Abingdon; two sisters, Sharon (Norman) Fauber of Spring Bay and Mary (Don) Cunningham of Galesburg and several nieces and nephews.
She lived most of her life in Abingdon and East Galesburg areas. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Abingdon. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was an avid Cardinal fan.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville with Reverend Rick Smith officiating. There will be no visitation.
Everyone is invited to lunch at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Abingdon.
Memorials may be made in her memory.
Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home Charlotte K. was born in 1946. She passed away in 2010.
