Biography

Janis (Skelton) Bevis was born in Appalachia, in South Carolina.

Janis was born on 31 JUL 1951. She was a daughter of Harold Skelton and Reed Banister. She was a graduate of Columbia College, Columbia, SC, and a much-beloved teacher of elementary school children for many years. She married Jay Bevis and they built a home in Valdese, North Carolina, where they raised two children, Katie (Bevis) Benfer and Russell Reed Bevis. Janis suffered most of her adult life with Shögren's Syndrome, and passed away in 2016.
