Richard Seaward is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A102219.

Richard was born in 1750 in Maryland.

Richard Seaward enlisted in Captain Robert Follett's company for defense of the Piscataqua Harbor. He sailed from this port in the brig Dalton, which was captured by a British frigate. The crew was sent to England, and imprisoned for two years. Richard was exchanged with the other and was sent to France. Seaward enlisted as Sergeant of Marines on the Bon Homme Richard, and under Captain John Paul Jones, participated in the battle with the British frigate Serapis on 23 September 1779.[1]

Richard Sayward, son of Sayward, married Sarah Dearing, sister of his first wife, Molly, on 18 April 1788 in Kittery, York, Maine, United States.[2]

Olive (Fowler) Seaward (1775-1850) was the third wife of Richard Seaward on 20 November 1812.

Richard filed for a pension based on his Revolutionary War service in 1818.[3]

He passed away in 1832. Richard Seaward was mentioned on a memorial in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Kittery Point, York County, Maine, United States with a death date of 6 October 1832.[4][5]
