Samuel Rollins was born on Jun 8, 1740 in Walpole Plantation, (present day Nobleboro) Massachusetts Bay Colony, son of John Rollins (>1690–1776) and Mary Glidden ( –1753).

Samuel Rollins was a soldier of the Revolution and held a Lieutenant's commission in the company of Capt. Benjamin Plummer. Col. McCobb's regiment in the expedition against the English at Bigueyduce (now Castine) in 1779.
