Lieutenant John Rogers served with Clark's Illinois Regiment, Virginia State Troops during the American Revolution.
Son of George Rogers and first cousin to General George Rogers Clark.

Capt. John Rogers was one of the original members of the Society of the Cincinnati. Did not marry. Received lands from Virginia for Revolutionary Services.4000 acres, warrant obtained 2/26/1783.His year of service was 1778 to Feb. 14, 1782--Revolutions War Records of Virginia.

Capt. John Rogers b. 1757 was between 18 and 19 yrs old when he volunteered and enlisted in the Continental Army in 1776, was 21 when appointed Lieut. by his first cousin Gen. Geo. Rogers Clark in 1779. He was said to have been the youngest officer of his grade in The Revo. Army. and first served with the Continental forces in Lower Va., then in the spring of 1778 he joined Clark's expedition to the west, where he participated in the capture of Kaskaskias and Vincennes, and afterwards commanded the guard which conducted the British Governor Hamilton and other prisoners from Vincennes, through the wilderness nearly 1,000 miles, to Richmond, Va.He was talented, brave, good and handsome. Never married and died suddenly April 16, 1794, in the prime of manhood, aged 37 years.
