Alexander Quarrier was born in Scotland.

Alexander Quarrier served with Pittsylvania County Militia, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Alexander was born 11 Mar 1745 to Alexander Quarrier and baptised 24 Mar 1745 in Strathmiglo, Fife. [1] He was not baptised with the middle name of Buchanan.

He immigrated to the British American colonies 27 Sep 1774 right at the brink of the Revolution. [2]

He enlisted in the Pennsylvania Militia during the Revolutionary War. [3]

He married Elizabeth Dannenberry 1 Jan 1783 in New Jersey. [4]

After the war, he moved to Richmond, Virginia where his wife passed away 21 Sep 1797. [2]

He married for the second time 30 May 1798 to Sally Burns of King's County, Virginia. [5]

In 1811, me moved to Kanawha, Virginia where he built his home, Willow Bank. He died there 24 May 1827 and is buried in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston, Kanawha County, now West Virginia. [6]

Research Notes

The father and mother of Alexander Quarrier are mentioned in a writing from the Quarrier Family Bible of which Alexander was the author. It is quoted in Hardesty's West Virginia Heritage Encyclopedia, Volume 4, on page 79. The first name of the father is not mentioned although much other information is given including the date on which he entered America, 27 Sep 1779, arriving in New York.
