Emanuel Potter was born in 1805. He was a jeweller and was living at Guildford Place in London at the time of the birth of his first child.
Emanuel (20) married Mary Ann Wain (18) (born on December 6, 1807 in Westminster, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom) on January 28, 1826 in Westminster, Middlesex. Their son was Emanuel Lewis Potter (1832–1875).
There are differing accounts of his death. It is most likely he is the Emanuel Potter, jeweller of Thomas Street, London who died of scarlet fever in 1837.
His death certificate also confirms he had a sister in law Mary married to his brother William.
Assuming the above to be correct, when Emanuel died his wife Mary Ann was pregnant with their seventh child Charles Thomas, who was born 1838 and died 1839.
Next time we find Mary Ann 1841 she is in the Workhouse with the girls and also surprise baby Mary Ann Martha 1840. Emanual Lewis lived with his step grandfather James Barlow. Mary Ann conveniently claimed that the father of Mary Ann Martha was Emanuel when she married William Carter.[1]
