Biography
William Potter was born on February 16, 1873 in Eastney, Hampshire, England, the child of Emanuel Lewis Potter & Elizabeth Potter. The family lived at 2 White Cloud Cottage, Higland Road, Eastney.
William was baptised on 27 April 1873 in Eastney when his father was in the Royal Marines Artilliary.[1]
In the 1881 census, William (age 8), Scholar, was the son of Elizabeth Potter at 1 Spithead View, Portsea, Hampshire, England. His father had died in 1875 when he was only 2 years' old.[2]
