Biography

- Elizabeth was married to Moses Davis in Wayne Co., IN. They were married in Concord Baptist Church.

- The 1840 Census lists them in that county as having two sons and two daughters.

- ca 1846 they moved into Wayne Township, Bartholomew County, IN where they owned land. Moses had several brothers in that area.

- in 1849 Moses died in Wayne Twp., Bartholomew Co., IN. He left a will and requested that his wife Sarah sell their land and move with the children to purchase land for their future.

- There is record of Samuel Shields, purchasing land in early Taylor County, Iowa. When Samuel was older, he sold this land and record is in the Bartholomew Co., IN Court House. A Moses Davis also purchased land there at the same time and it was possibly this Moses Davis.

- Elizabeth and her four youngest children moved to Marquette, Wisconsin where Elizabeth died in 1852 / 53. ..Her two oldest children had remained in Indiana and after her death, one of those went to Wisconsin to raise the children until their brother John Wesley reached the age of 21. We now know that it was her son Albert W. Davis who cared for the children and their land.

- Other researchers have told me that members of my Davis family died from tuberculosis.
