Biography

Catherine Pitre was born about 1668 in Port Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Jean Pitre (abt. 1636–abt. 1689) and Marie Pesseley (abt. 1645–1707).^[1]

She was 3 at the time of 1671 Census,^[2] and 11 in 1678.^[3]

Catherine (16) married Claude Bertrand (33) (born about 1651) in 1685 in Port-Royal, Acadie.^[1] Their known children were:

In 1686, at Port-Royal, Catherine PITRE, aged 18, and her husband Claude BERTRAN [sic], aged 35, were recorded as living in Cap de Sable.^[4]
