Captain Samuel Pickering was another son of the family of the subject of this sketch [Samuel Pickering Sr.]. His wife was a daughter of Mr. Benjamin Cole, the second of the name, upon whose land Captain Pickering settled. His former place of residence is now the property of the widow of the late Mr. Mark H. Bray, and the house occupied by him at the time of his death is now the property of Mr. George W. Bray, It is near the Town House. Captain Pickering was a master-mariner, a very active man, and accumulated property. He died several years ago. His wife survived him for several years, dying in 1860 or about that time.
Their family consisted of two sons and seven daughters, the sons being the present Messrs. Aaron D. and Timothy B. Pickering. The latter is a man of business here, owns considerable navigation,and has been in trade many years. The daughters were the wives of Mr. Willaby N. Bray; Mr. William Torrey, before referred to, who died on a passage to California; Mr. Nathan W. Sawyer; Captain
Robert Kelsey; a Mr. Wilkinson, of Massachusetts; Mr. David Torrey, 2d, and Captain Dudley Pressey, the latter of whom only now resides here. The others, with the exception of Mrs. Wilkinson, are dead.
The daughters of Mr. Samuel Pickering, Sr. were the wives of Mr. William Bray and of a Mr. Davis. The latter did not reside here. The time of the death of Mr.

ii. Davis Pickering; b. 24 Oct 1801 (died young).
iii. Ruth Pickering; b. 1805; baptized 24 Jun 1820; m. Nathan Wheeler Sawyer, son of David Sawyer and Rebecca Crockett.
iv. Olive Pickering; b. 1 May 1805; m. Robert Kelsey, son of Robert Kelsey and Mary (--?--), at Hancock, Maine; d. 4 Oct 1857 at age 52.
v. Aaron Davis Pickering; b. 24 Oct 1806; m. Nancy Jordan, daughter of Ebenezer Jordan and Olive Sellers, 7 Oct 1832 at Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine; d. 30 Mar 1877 at age 70; he was buried at Mount Adams Cemetery, Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine.
vi. Abbie D. Pickering; b. 17 Nov 1810; m. Levi Wilkinson; d. 1 Feb 1886 at Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, at age 75.
vii. Eliza Pickering; b. 13 Oct 1812; baptized 2 Sep 1821; m. David Torrey, son of Jonathan Torrey and Prudence Tyler, 5 Mar 1835; d. 1 Apr 1862 at age 49.
viii. Timothy Barnes Pickering; b. 15 Sep 1816; m. Susan Noyes Haskell, daughter of Joshua Haskell and Sally Bray, 1 Jan 1835 at Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine; d. 18 Aug 1892 at Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine, at age 75.
ix. Sophronia Wines Pickering; b. 28 Apr 1820; m. Dudley Pressey, son of Ezra Pressey and Mary Saunders, at Hancock, Maine; d. 28 Aug 1884 at age 64; she was buried at Mount Adams Cemetery, Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine.
