Joseph was born in 1748.[citation needed]

By family tradition, Joseph was illegitimate son of William, Duke of Cumberland (a son of King George II. His mother, Mary Ann Packard, was not of Royal blood. He was not allowed to use a royal name so he shortened his mothers name PACKARD to Pack. Joseph was granted the family crest before he left England.[citation needed]

He emigrated from England to Virginia about 1770.[citation needed]

Joseph Pack was grantee of certain lands (some say 10,000 acres) lying in what is now Clarendon County, South Carolina, by Royal grant on file in the office of the Secretary of State for South Carolina.[citation needed]

A planter, he was the founder of Packsville or Paxville, South Carolina.[citation needed]

He married Louisa Alexander (1752-1836).[citation needed]

Joseph and Louisa raised a family of six boys and six girls. One daughter married a son of a Scotsman, Mr. Bird; another daughter married a son of an Irishman, Mr. Kelley; another to a Mr. Mims; another to Mr. Ridgill; another to a Mr. Timmons; another to a Mr. Broome. [citation needed]

In 1810, he was enumerated in Clarendon, Sumter, South Carolina.[1]

He died in 1827.[citation needed]

He is buried at Paxville Baptist Church Cemetery, Paxville, Clarendon County, South Carolina, USA.[2]

There is a marker honoring Joseph Pack's service with the South Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary War.

Is there any actual evidence that William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland is this man's father? The Duke never married and had no acknowledged mistresses. If there isn't then he should be disconnected.

I have now disconnected William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, as the father. I have left a note that by family tradition he is the father. Please only connect as the father if primary, contemporaneous evidence is found.
