Hi Dianne,

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.

Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.

If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.

Over the past year, Australia Project members have been more active on Discord. We're finding it a fun way to communicate as a project. If you're not on Discord yet, here's some information - Help:Discord. If you are already on the WikiTree Discord server, let us know, and we can send you an invite link to the dedicated Australia Project server (WikiAustralia) where all our chat channels are located. It's a great way to communicate with other members on your project team/s, or for any general questions.

We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

Hi Dianne,

It's time for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. Thank you so much for contributing to the project and Australian profiles on WikiTree during the last year. We really appreciate you!

If you would like to stay in the project, please reply to this message or send me a private message to let us know that you would like to stay on. Alternatively, if your WikiTree and research interests have moved away from Australia, please let us know and we can remove you from the membership list for the moment. You will, of course, be very welcome to rejoin the project down the track whenever you want to.

We are also keen to know if you want to make any changes to the team or teams that you want to focus on. Take a look on Australia Project Teams to see what teams there are to choose from. If you want to discuss this, or have any questions or suggestions about the Australia Project we'd love to hear your ideas.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to us!

Gillian, co-Leader, Australia Project

Hi Gillian

I am still plodding along, much the same as in my message of Sep 2020. Using wikitree to try and make genetic connections. Still haven't learned how to add sources, even though I added the sourcer I still couldn't work out how to use it but I haven't got time to do that as well as everything else and sometimes others fill in the gaps which is good. No change to project affiliations.

Thanks for getting back to me Dianne :-) You definitely need to be in the mood to sort out new technology. Please feel free to send me a message if you have any questions about anything to do with WikiTree and the project - but otherwise just keep on having fun on WikiTree!

Hi Dianne,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum ‘’’before’’’ creating the profile.

Hi Dianne,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out our annual check-in to see how you are going in the project. We'd really like to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles over the past year! We think we've made great progress in 2020/21 with your assistance.

Please could you reply to this message, to let us know if you would like to stay on in the project and if you are happy with your current role and team involvement. If you would like to do something additional or different, take a look on the Australia Project page to see what other options there are.

It would also be great to get any feedback or suggestions that you have to improve the project.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Hi Dianne,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out a check-in to see how you are going in the project and especially to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles on WikiTree. We really value your participation.

Please could you get back to me by private message to let me know if you are happy with your current role and team involvement within the project or if you would like to do something additional or different. Currently you are on the South Australia team. If you would like a change, you can check on the Australia Project page to see what other options there are.

It would also be great to hear any feedback and any suggestions that you have to improve the project. On a practical note, if you are a member of the google group, are you receiving messages ok? Also do you have Australia as one of the tags you are following on the G2G? Don't forget to add it in if you don't have that tag yet.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Margaret Haining Membership Coordinator

Hello Gillian

I have a basic question. I want to see a list of all the profiles I have created and manage. Not the updates to them etc. Is this possible? I manage different lines and they do not connect because of adoptions etc and I have tried to keep some profiles private.

I have joined the project and didn't realise how much goes on behind the scenes. I admire your work but also am horrifed, I didn't realise what I was signing up for. I just want to be an ignorant person innocently adding my profiles. Now I find there are millions of categories I should be using, I want something to pop up as a suggestion if that is the case. I don't want to be contacted by someone telling me my profile is inadequate. Hence I need a list to check them out.

I also don't know how to add sources as per the requirements. If I need to prove a point I add an image. I don't want to see a list of sources each one of which takes me away from the main page... I don't want to add expansive biographies as I don't have the time. Wikitree is a subsidiary for me. My primary focus is genetic genealogy and I manage kits for about 15 people some on several sites. My main trees are on Ancestry, My major one has about 14,000 people in it, others from a few hundred to a few thousand. Since doing genetic genealogy I have tried to make my trees comprehensive as our first genetic matches were often 5th to 8th cousins.

Sorry to direct this rant to you, i thought of adding it onto the project update page but wasn't sure how it would be taken. I can move it there if you think that is more appropriate. I have been on wikitree for about 5 years but obviously only use a few of the sections. I discovered the Suggestions tab yesterday. How long have the suggestions been there, how often do they get updated? Obviously it is the original set-up which is overly complicated and everything is so time consuming....

I just saw Margaret's comment that to see your profiles you go to a category page. What? don't know what she means and can't find anything. I just think it is a stupid system if you have to go behind the scenes to know how to make anything work. Obviously much frustration! Thanks for any helpful advice.

I have McGill & McConnell info as well.
I've removed the incorrect match which should allow you to connect the right entries of McWhinnie 18 & 25.

Sorry for the confusion Dianne, I'm still learning this program.

Dianne thank you so much for the information about David Murdoch's family!

Hi Dianne, and welcome to WikiTree! You mentioned your ancestors in the United Kingdom. I wanted to let you know we have a great new project that focuses on the UK here called United Kingdom Project , including our Scottish Clans Project, Scotland Project which links to our Irish Roots Project It would be a great place for you to get involved once you have settled into WikiTree.

We have also recently launched a brand new New Zealand Project You might be interested in that one too.

Thank you so much for joining WikiTree. Good luck with your research in 2015.

Hi Dianne

I see you have a DNA badge. Did you know we have a WikiTree project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? You will find it and WikiTree's other interesting projects by using the FIND link top right of most WikiTree pages, select PROJECTS from the drop down box. WikiTree's DNA project has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.

You might also like to read the discussions tagged with DNA in the G2G forum.

Happy WikiTreeing
