Hi Charles or should say hi cuz 8C 1XR

John "William" Smith who was m. to Ann Hittle is my GGF. I was reviewing both Profiles & found some discrepancies. They were m. 1848 no prob. the sources agree. However, Ann's Bio says she was m. 5X but the most important one was to my GFF. All of her children were from that m. It also states that she must have outlived all husbands since no divorce records have been found. The discrepancies are (1) I can find no record of my GGF name being William (2) The 1870 Census has my GGF m. to a Jane Unknown and they had 4 children; his father Nathaniel Smith was living with them. Those 4 were born during the same time period that 3 of Ann's children were born1858-1868. (3) the headstone pic in Ann's Bio shows Wm. A Smith, Catherine Hittle & Sarah. Sarah is not listed as a child of my GGF. They must have divorced. He wasn't living with Ann in 1870 he was already m. to another person and I can't find where any of those 8 children were from the Ann Hittle-John Smith marriage. There's a small discrepancy in the marriage date of one month also. Hope you can help, Hal

Hello, Charles. I saw your info re Thomas McGriff and believe he is identical to my Thomas McGriff-49. Please look at McGriff-49 and see if you think a merger should be done.
Nice catch. I was searching for birth and death dates that were listed on his Findagrave profile before I added him but didn't check for other nodes listing the same Findagrave ID number.

Charles --

This week we have your last stop on the guided tour. Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.

You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

As always, your questions are welcome!

You've been hard at work for four weeks adding family members and getting connected to those that are already here. You should have a few profiles that you manage now. So, this week we're going to look at how to work with your Watchlist: How to Manage Your Watchlist.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Thanks, Cindy

Hey Again,

You've been here for three weeks now! We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know us a little better.

You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions as that is the only way we gain knowledge!

Thanks for volunteering, Charles! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community. Once you sign the Honor Code, you may start adding profiles.

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour to help new members learn their way around. The first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree. Tomorrow, a Mentor will check in to see how you're doing and answer your questions. You'll get a message about the next stop on your tour next week.

To meet other WikiTreers, check out our G2G forum. Here's the G2G Question of the Week: What's the funniest transcription mistake you've seen?

Enjoy!

Hi Charles, and welcome to the WikiTree family!

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, which means that members work together as a single collaborative team. The Honor Code is our guide to keep everything functioning smoothly as we work on one BIG tree.

The initial email from us has links to get you started. Your tags will help you keep up with new information on surnames, locations, concepts, etc., and help you find other WikiTreers with the same interests.

I'll confirm your membership in a few minutes, and then you'll be on your way!

Carole

P.S. I'm always happy to answer questions.
