Motley, a pioneer Jasper County resident, died at his home in Carterville today following an illness of one year at the age of 79 years He is survived by a wife and seven children. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Motley had resided her for 58 years.

William Thomas Motley was born on January 19, 1836, in Allen County, Kentucky, to Narcissa Ann Williams and Thomas S. Motley. His father Thomas S. Motley passed away on October 12, 1851, in Alba, Jasper County, Missouri, at the age of 56. William Thomas Motley married Eliza Catherine Ennis Motley in Jasper, Missouri, on April 3, 1859, when he was 23 years old. They had eight children together. His mother Narcissa N. Williams Motley passed away on February 9, 1883, in Settle, Allen County, Kentucky, at the age of 79. His wife Eliza Catherine Ennis Motley passed away on July 25, 1891, in Carterville, Jasper County, Missouri, at the age of 51. They had been married 32 years. He then married Mary B Campbell Sweetman Henderson in 1897 in Missouri when he was 61 years old. William Thomas Motley died on March 31, 1915, in Carterville, Missouri, having lived a long life of 79 years, and was buried in Webb City, Missouri. He was survived by wife and children.
