Dominicus Mitchell was born on 19 April 1744 in in the part of Falmouth that became Cape Elizabeth in 1765. His parents were Robert Mitchell and Miriam (Jordan) Mitchell^[1].

He married Anna Small on 1 August 1765. They settled in Standish, Maine (then called Pearsontown) and had eleven children ^[1]

Dominicus served in the American Revolutionary War as a lieutenant in Capt. Samuel Whitmore's Company of Col. Reuben Fogg's regiment of militia on 25 December 1777^[1]. He passed away on 6 Sep 1822 and is buried in Old Dow's Corner Cemetery in Standish^[2]
