Edward Lane was born December 23, 1721, in Philadelphia county, Pennsylvania. (Note: this portion of Pennsylvania became part of Montgomery county, in 1784.) Edward married Ann Evans, and made his home in Providence Township. Edward's lands were assessed for taxes to help pay the expenses of the American Revolutionary War. Edward paid the supply tax in the years 1779, 1780 and 1781. [1]
Edward Lane is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution for his Patriotic Service as Ancestor #A068583. Application for membership in the Society have been filed by the descendants of his daughters, Abigail Lane, who married William Couch; Hannah Lane, who married Jesse Bean; and of his son, William Lane, who married Mary Bean. According to DAR records, Edward died before August 31, 1799 (the date that his will was probated). According to his Find A Grave memorial, his date of death is July 31, 1799. Edward is buried in the churchyard of the Saint James Perkiomen Church in Evansburg, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. [3]
