Biography

Frederic Knapp appears in the records of Quebec in 1790 at the baptism of his daughter Francoise Knept who was 18 months old at the time. The priest indicated that the couple were German. He has several children in Quebec and disappears from the records of Quebec after 1804. It is known he had at least one child, Catherine who was born before 1790. His daughter Françoise married Julien Beaulieu on 1806-01-07 in Amherstburg, Ontario and it is stated that he and his wife Marguerite are residents of that town. His daughter Marie Amable is married at the parish of L'Assumption, Sandwich, Windsor, Ontario in 1816.

A Friedrich Knab can be found in passenger records of 1777 (arriving in Newfoundland) and 1783 (discharge from the Hesse-Hanau Rangers). It is possible that this Friedrich Knab is the same person as Friedrich Knapp. [1] [2]
