Mrs. Susan HITCHCOCK died at her home near Floris, Saturday, June 6th after a long illness, death being due to paralysis. Deceased was seventy years of age and the mother of a family of four children. She was born in Ohio in 1844. From that state she removed early in lift to Iowa where she me and was married to James HITCHCOCK in 1867. After residing in Iowa a while, the family moved to Kansas and from there they came to Beaver county eleven years ago, settling on a homestead. During their residence here, the family have encountered the hardships of pioneer life, but in all the trials the devoted mother has cheerfully borne her burdens and with out complaint as becomes an up right Christian which she was. Besides the sorrowing husband, the four children who survive are: Mrs. Winnie WILLIAMS, Fred, Frank and Lola. To these bereaved relatives, a wide circle of friends extend their deepest sympathy in the loss of their dearest friend. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Forgan M. E. church by Rev. A. L. Hughs. The M. E. choir rendered a number of beautiful sacred selections and interment took place in the Forgan cemetery. (The Forgan Advocate (Forgan, Oklahoma)-June 18, 1914)[1]
