Captain Tom King was Killed in Action during World War I.
Thomas was born in December 1881[1]. He was the son of Dr Thomas Radford King and Agnes Jane Wickham.
He was educated at the Oratory School, Birmingham, England and Exeter College, Oxford, England.
UK Census Date 1891: Recorded in the household of his uncle Samuel Phipps (along with his father Thomas and sister Mary) in Breakspears Rd, St Paul Deptford, London, England. Aged 9.
UK Census Date 31 March 1901: Recorded as a Boarder in Avenue Road, Abergavenny Urban, Monmouthshire, England. Aged 19.
He served in the 1st World War as 2nd Lieutenant with the 4th Battalion East Surrey Regiment in the South African Campaign. He held an appointment in the Colonial Civil Service in Brunei, British North Borneo.
He re-joined the 4th Battalion as Captain in 1915.
Tragically Tom passed away in 1917, killed in the 1st World War. He was 35 years of age.
He is buried at Arras, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France[3]
