Michael King was born on 10 September 1903 at 33 Nth Brunswick St, Dublin. He is the fifth son of Charles King (a labourer) and Esther Carabine. [1][2][3] The first child in the family, William, had died as an infant aged just three months, so Michael grew up with three older brothers. Two sisters then followed Michael's birth.
In 1911, Michael was living with his family at Queen Street, Arran Quay. He was registered as a seven year old scholar. His father was employed as a labourer with Dublin Corporation. [4][5]
Michael sadly died young at the age of just 13 years on 27th July 1917 at Richmond Hospital, Dublin. [6][7] The cause of his death was registered as cerebral sclerosis and epilepsy. The family were living at 62 North King Street, Dublin, at the time Michael died. His youngest brother Francis had died as an infant just a year earlier.
Michael was buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin, Plot BI 317.5 ST. BRIDGET'S SECTION. [8][9]
Four years after his death, Michael's brother James and his wife had a baby boy and they called him "Michael", probably after his young uncle who had died.
Research Notes
Baptism record:
Michael was probably baptised soon after his birth. Records are not available publicly for this time yet, but it could be researched in the future.
