Hallie Fraser King was born on 11 Sep 1844, in Windsor, Hants, Nova Scotia.

In the findagrave website Hallie's death certificate reports she was born in Dec 1845 in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada, but her grave stone claims 11 Sep 1844.^[1]

She was married in 1864 in Christ Anglican Church, Windsor, Nova Scotia to Rev. Arthur Charles Fitzgerald Wood.^[2]

She was living in Newfoundland by 1868, the time of her first child's birth.^[3]

Hallie founded the Womens Auxiliary of the St Thomas Anglican Church, East End, St John's Newfoundland and led it for 20 yrs. In the 1870's she was active in the St John's industrial society which was a group that assisted poor families in the East End of the town by providing domestic work, usually sewing, & paying the women with the items they sewed, provided they kept up the middle-class values of those supervising the projects. She lauded the effort of the Society as monumental and a positive influence for the sanitary & home life of the working class. She also promoted a class spanning sisterhood.

In 1891 the Women's Auxiliary got into hot water by initiating a fundraising for the church hall without permission from the male administration. This coincided with the 1890s suffrage movement. The hall was renamed Canon Wood Hall.

In Sep 1899 Hallie moved to Knoxville Tennessee to live w her son after the death of her husband two yrs previous.^[4]

The 1900 US census, lists Hallie as a 55 yr old Nova Scotia born, English-Cdn, living in Knoxville, Knox, Tennessee, United States in 1900.^[5]

She died 23 Feb 1912 in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee, USA and was buried in the Old Gray Cemetery, Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee, USA, Lot 622, MEMORIAL ID235706727.^[6]
